Editorial Policy
Every article on ayatulkursi.org/ goes through the same editorial pipeline. This page explains the standards we hold ourselves to — so readers can judge us by them, and so we can be corrected when we fall short.
1. Our Commitment
- Every claim is traceable to a primary source: the Qur’an, an authentic hadith collection, or a recognised classical tafsir.
- Hadith are cited with their collection, book, and hadith number so the reader can verify.
- Weak and fabricated narrations are flagged or excluded from material on virtues and benefits.
- Translations are attributed and the Arabic is always treated as authoritative.
- Disagreements among classical Sunni scholars are reported, not concealed.
2. Source Hierarchy
We work in this order of precedence:
- The Qur’an — the Uthmani mushaf.
- The Sunnah — in the order of reliability: Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim first, followed by Sunan Abu Dawud, Jami’ al-Tirmidhi, Sunan al-Nasa’i, Sunan Ibn Majah, Muwatta’ Malik, and Musnad Ahmad.
- Classical tafsir — Ibn Kathir, al-Tabari, al-Qurtubi, al-Baghawi, Ibn ‘Ashur, and al-Sa’di.
- Classical fiqh & ‘aqidah — recognised works of the four Sunni schools.
- Modern reliable scholarship — respected contemporary scholars known for adherence to classical method.
A full reading list is on our Sources & Methodology page.
3. Translation Standards
- Our primary English rendering of the Qur’an is Sahih International, chosen for accuracy and readability.
- Where translations diverge on an important point, we quote two or three (Pickthall, Yusuf Ali, Mohsin Khan) so the reader sees the range.
- Transliteration follows a simple, consistent system for English readers — not an academic IPA scheme.
- When we translate a hadith ourselves, we note that and provide the Arabic or a standard English collection link (e.g., Sunnah.com).
4. Hadith Authentication
We follow the classical muhaddith method. For any hadith on the Site:
- If it is in Sahih al-Bukhari or Sahih Muslim, it is accepted as authentic (sahih) by consensus.
- If it is in the other six books, we cite the grading given by recognised classical or contemporary authorities (al-Tirmidhi’s own grading, al-Albani, al-Arna’ut, Shuʿayb al-Arna’ut, Ibn Hajar, etc.).
- We avoid weak (da’if) and fabricated (mawdu’) narrations in material about virtues and rewards. Where we must quote one for illustration, we label it clearly.
5. Review Process
Every new page passes three stages before publication:
- Draft — written with citations in-text.
- Peer review — a second team member checks sources, hadith references, and language.
- Publish — published with a visible “Last updated” date.
We do not use anonymous AI-generated content as our primary draft. Any AI assistance is limited to language editing and is always reviewed against primary sources by a human.
6. Corrections Policy
We welcome corrections. If you spot an error:
- Email ayatulkursi.org@gmail.com with the page URL and the specific correction.
- Minor typos and broken links are fixed immediately and silently.
- Substantive errors (misattributed hadith, incorrect translation, factual mistake) are corrected with a visible note on the page where appropriate, and the “Last updated” date is refreshed.
- If a correction changes the meaning of an article materially, we add a “Corrected on [date]” note at the bottom.
7. Updates & Revisions
We revisit pages periodically to add better sources, improve language, and fix what no longer reads well. The date shown at the top of each page is the most recent substantive update.
8. Independence
Our editorial decisions are independent of advertising and affiliate partners. Specifically:
- No advertiser, donor, or affiliate reviews or approves content before publication.
- We do not accept paid placements, sponsored posts, or link-insertions.
- Affiliate links are added only to products we would recommend with or without a commission, and they are disclosed per our Affiliate Disclosure.
9. What We Do Not Publish
- Personal fatwas. We refer readers to qualified scholars.
- Sectarian polemic or attacks on Muslims of any school.
- Unverified “fada’il” (virtue) narrations circulating on social media.
- Medical, psychiatric, or legal advice.
