Is It OK to Use Ayatul Kursi as a Wallpaper?

This is a question many Muslims ask. Here’s the honest answer — scholars differ on the exact position, but the common ground is clear.

What most scholars agree on

  • Displaying Qur’anic verses in your home, phone, or office is a form of dhikr (remembrance of Allah) and is generally permitted.
  • The intention matters — if your intention is to honor the verse and be reminded of Allah, this is good.
  • You should keep your device out of impure places (toilets, etc.) when the verse is visible on screen, out of respect for the words of Allah.

Where scholars differ

Some scholars discourage using long Qur’anic text on wallpapers because it may be exposed to contexts where the Qur’an shouldn’t be — e.g. when you drop your phone, when it’s used in casual settings, or when children handle it carelessly. The safer position is to use short meaningful phrases (like the opening or a divine name) rather than long passages.

Our generator deliberately offers short snippets for this reason — not the full 10-line verse — which satisfies both views.

A practical middle view

Treat the wallpaper the way you’d treat a sacred image: display it with care, don’t open it in disrespectful places, and let the daily sight of it remind you to recite Ayatul Kursi at the appropriate times — once after each fard prayer and once before sleep. If you’re uncertain, speak to a scholar you trust.

Design Tips for a Beautiful Wallpaper

  • Phone users: gold or white text on dark backgrounds reads best under the clock. Dark green or charcoal text works beautifully on cream backgrounds for a classic look.
  • Instagram / Pinterest: use the Square or Insta Post size. Amiri or Reem Kufi fonts tend to perform better in social feeds (bolder visibility).
  • Desktop: use horizontal size and center the text — leave room on either side so your desktop icons don’t overlap.
  • Avoid text colors that match the background too closely — if the preview looks muddy, pick a higher-contrast color.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size will the downloaded image be?

Phone: 1080×1920 (standard phone lockscreen). Square: 1200×1200. Insta Post: 1080×1350. Desktop: 1920×1080 (standard laptop/desktop). All exports are high-resolution PNG, ready for retina displays.

Does my choice get saved?

Your last settings are saved privately in your browser. If you refresh the page, you’ll come back to the same template and verse you picked last — but you can change anything at any time.

Can I use these wallpapers for commercial purposes?

Personal use (your phone, your desktop, your family) is fully permitted. For commercial use (selling as merchandise, using in paid templates, etc.) please contact us first — some templates include our editorial design work.

Why only short snippets, not the full verse?

Two reasons: (1) full-verse text at wallpaper size becomes too small to read clearly on a phone, and (2) some scholars prefer short phrases for Qur’anic wallpapers to limit the chance of the verse being displayed in disrespectful contexts. See the “Is It OK?” section above for the full view.

Will more templates be added?

Yes — we add new background templates regularly based on reader requests. Have a style you want? Send us a note.

Can I share my wallpaper on social media?

Please do! If you tag ayatulkursi.org when sharing on Instagram or Pinterest, we love seeing them. The wallpaper is yours to share freely.
