About Mahmoud Khalil Al-Husary
Sheikh Mahmoud Khalil Al-Husary (1917 to 1980) was born in Shubra al-Namla, near Tanta in Egypt, and served as head of the reciters of Egypt.
In the early 1960s he was among the first to record the complete Quran in murattal style. Teachers still use his recordings as the model for exact tajweed.
This is his mujawwad recitation: slower and more melodic than his famous murattal.
It belongs to the Egyptian school of recitation, known for strong voices and exact tajweed.

- اللَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَAllahu la ilaha illa HuwaAllah: there is no god worthy of worship except Him,

- لَا تَأْخُذُهُ سِنَةٌ وَلَا نَوْمٌLa ta'khudhuhu sinatun wa la nawmNeither drowsiness nor sleep ever overtakes Him.

- يَعْلَمُ مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَمَا خَلْفَهُمْYa'lamu ma bayna aydihim wa ma khalfahumHe knows what is before them and what is behind them,
- وَلَا يُحِيطُونَ بِشَيْءٍ مِّنْ عِلْمِهِ إِلَّا بِمَا شَاءَWa la yuhituna bi-shay'im min 'ilmihi illa bima sha'and they grasp nothing of His knowledge except what He wills.
- وَسِعَ كُرْسِيُّهُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَWasi'a kursiyyuhus-samawati wal-ardHis Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth,
- وَلَا يَئُودُهُ حِفْظُهُمَاWa la ya'uduhu hifzuhumaand guarding them both never tires Him.
- وَهُوَ الْعَلِيُّ الْعَظِيمُWa Huwal-'Aliyyul-'AzimHe is the Most High, the Most Great.
